WebCAD is a browser-native BIM and CAD workspace: modelling, drawing production, schedules, quantities, coordination and an AI that operates the same commands a person does. It needs no install and no account to try: the demo is a URL.
Facts
- What it is
- Browser-native BIM/CAD workspace with an AI operator and open IFC exchange.
- Where it runs
- Any current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. No desktop install, no license server.
- Exchange
- IFC4 in and out, DXF, BCF, and a proprietary
.webcadpackage you own. - Licensing
- Independent, proprietary, closed source. Not affiliated with Autodesk.
- Trademarks
- Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks are Autodesk trademarks, used only for comparison.
Claims we make, and claims we do not
Every capability has a scope. If a sentence below is not in the left column, we are not claiming it — and a number quoted without its scope is a number we did not publish.
| Claim | Status | Scope, as published |
|---|---|---|
| Runs in a browser with no install | Yes | Desktop browsers; a tablet is a viewer, not an authoring surface. |
| IFC import and export with stable product identities | Yes | Category coverage and losses are declared per format; exports are checked in an independent IFC reader, not only in our own. |
| Proprietary vector PDF sheet sets at true scale | Yes | One page per sheet at the sheet's declared paper size; vector, not a raster screenshot. |
| An AI that can operate every tool | Yes | Every user-facing command is a registered, schema-described, validated action. Suggestions do not bypass validation, and bulk changes are previewable and undoable. |
Reads or writes .rvt |
No | Not supported and not planned as a file-compatibility feature. Use IFC export from Revit. |
| Exports DWG | No | DXF and vector PDF today. DWG output is an open decision, not a shipped feature. |
| Certified structural, MEP or energy calculations | No | The engines compute and expose assumptions; a licensed engineer certifies. |
| Handles million-element federations | No | Supported model sizes are published with measured envelopes. Large coordination is a target, not a claim. |
| Beats Revit on every workflow | No | Parity is not the goal and not the claim. Comparisons are made on named tasks, with the method stated. |

Boilerplate
WebCAD is a browser-native BIM and CAD workspace built by Mats Romblad. It runs in a tab with no install, models buildings with parametric tools, produces scale-true drawings and schedules from the same model, exchanges IFC with the rest of the project, and exposes every command to an AI operator that uses the same validated, undoable actions as the person driving the screen. It is independent, proprietary software and is not affiliated with Autodesk or any other CAD vendor.

For a demo that uses your own project, send an IFC or a link — the answer will be what the tool
actually does with it, not a slide.
